Today, I was awarded a scholarship from the UCB Training Center’s Diversity Program!
This means I get to go back to improv class! Even IF I’m a disgustingly broke starving artist!
In life, and especially in Los Angeles, it’s easy for me to feel like it’s impossible to win anything. Like it’s rare for good news to be about me.
Well, today, I feel like I won something!
Thank you, UCB. Thank you, Joe Wengert. Thank you, diversity. Thank you, Mom and Dad, for teaching me that I can do whatever I want and be whoever I want, as long as I want it badly enough.
And thank you to the overwhelmingly large amount of white men at UCB that unknowingly encourage me to be a Filipina-American female improviser, an Asian-American female improviser - neither which currently exist on any of the UCBLA improv teams at the moment.
If you have nobody like you to look up to, then it’s time to become that person yourself.
